Obviously taking everything out of context, when we are dealing with the bleeding obvious there is no reason not to suggest it. I watched the video before reading the comments, so your point has no substance. You must have seen a lot of people having fits to be able to make such a confident judgement. Personally, having only lived with a severe epileptic in the household for nine years, I would unhesitatingly defer to you expertise. What do I know?

    Nope, I haven't either

yeah, but i still haven't gotten my points back yet

I think they will come either this last update or the next one. As if you look at the hourly graphs for any team a huge spike existed for the last hour. This is probably stanford processing log files. It may take time for them all to be processed.

Maybe I should forget to pay my bill 30% of the time.

My wife had VZ and hated them. I doubt that there is actually any network out there that has acceptable quality. The iPhone is essentially a phone straight out of the future. It's like trying to run a RAZR on a network in the late 80's. It's too much data.

    Very true.

Apple sells cheap songs in hopes that you'll buy an iPod.

Amazon sells even cheaper songs... ???... profit?

??? = getting customers to Amazon.com where they will most likely buy some of the bazillion other things that Amazon sells. Same reason that brick & mortar stores use loss leaders (to drive traffic into their store).

The white is definitely a little bit thicker than the black. I managed to get it in my Incase Slider (snuggly) that I used with my black, but it is next to impossible to get it out. This post explains why...

Although I think the Rep is probably correct, their source of information is likely to be from forums such as this.

I know product managers at a telecoms company and they themselves do not get light of new products until very close to the release date

Well, I don't know about the name considering iHome are a successful company that make a range of iPod-enabled clock radios but it certainly sounds like a good product.
well, I was more talking about a digital media hub gadget previously named iHome. uHome? would do just as well for me, just begin to produce it. ;)

There is a PPC version but it will only run the PPC version of Windows.

Waiting for ivy bridge (2012) which will come with USB3 standard unless Apple somehow purposefully downgrades to USB2. Then you won't have to get a Thunderbolt to USB3 hub (if one will ever come out) to use the more standard peripherals. I already have a USB3 external hard drive which works on my Mac at USB2 speeds... :(

USB3 is really going to remain the standard, unfortunately... at least for a few years. There are just too many USB peripherals around.

Will VMWare cut it ? I head some discussion on the poor performace Parallels has when it comes to disk access (compiling is disk intensive).

I find compiling is NOT disk intensive. Not if you have enough RAM installed. In my case the tools AND all the source code can fit in the system's cache.

I know I'm going to get labeled as a mac zealot and linux apologist for asking this, but isn't it weird how the project spent ALMOST ALL OF ITS TIME looking for ways to crucify OS X/Linux, but they avoided MS like the plague, as if they were afraid to make them look bad?

"I didn't have much time left for working on Microsoft Windows but I've received the most helpful feedback from the MSRC"

    Riiiight. :p

Couldn't that be just because Windows security (or lack thereof) has already been thoroughly examined by the industry at large and therefore wasn't as high a priority?

Apple didn't buy iOS/OS X. They created it from scratch using components from UNIX/NeXTSTEP. Simple.

First, OS X is very much like the last versions of NeXTSTEP was, aside from Quartz/Appkit frameworks and GUI layer. Foundation is basically what was shipping in the 90s, the kernel/BSD userland, etc...

Apple has done a lot of work on it, and I've said so in my posts several times. I'm not diminishing their work in anyway. Again, I'm simply stating that pissing over Google because they "acquired" and used "open source" is quick disingenuous in the face of Apple having done the same for both their flagship OSes.

It's great that Google bought Android but there's a very few things google have done on their own.

How do you know ? You saw Android in 2005 ? You can seriously compare what Andy's company made back then to what is actually shipping now ? The evolution from Android 1.0 to 2.3/3.0 is quite astounding by itself, who knows what went on between 2005 and version 1.0 that shipped in late 2009.

Why even attempt to diminish the work ? Apple does the same acquisition, they use open source projects to quicken development. The histories are similar, the goals are similar. Why hate Google over it, and why do you think it doesn't also reflect on Apple when you do ?

I will leave the rest of your post out and just report it to the mods instead. I suggest editing your post to remove your clear lack of respect. If you want to discuss the merits of each at the fine detail, I don't think this is the thread for it. Again, let's drop the Google hate and talk OS X instead.

As always, the iPod is Apple's real cash cow.

Too bad for those of us who wish they would divert a little more of their attention to their computer line..

Yeah. Gawd knows Apple hasn't done a thing with it's Mac line-up this year.

Wow, amazing how emotional people always get whenever I make a statement that could sound slightly anti-iPod... I know you love your iPod and all (I am very fond of mine myself), but over the last few years Apple has been focusing a dispropotional amount of energy into their cute little gadget which has massively boosted their profits. For those of us that don't salivate over all things iPod, I think this is too bad.

    That is all.

    Do you even understand yourself?

You're first comment was more anti-Mac than anti-iPod.

Count the amount of things Apple has done to it's Mac line-up this year compared to it's iPod line-up, and then come back and tell us that Apple hasn't focused on it's computers this year WAY more than the iPod line-up.

    Think before you post.

    Es todo.

Actually, you know what I missed out?
    SpotLight! ....

Don't have any use for Expose, but I use Spotlight quite a bit.

Panther was fine for me; if I'd stuck with that version, then I probably would have been OK.

    That's a neat trick, but it's still a crash. ... :)

OSX was my problem, which I did find surprising.

I think we're just polar opposites. I've been fine with all versions of OS X. I use Expos all the time but I may have used Spotlight like 5 times. Of course if we had Tiger at work I'd probably use it a lot more!

No doubt, I like nice things too and have my selection of vainness in my closet (diamond Gucci watch, LV messenger bag/wallets/etc) but when it comes to clothes, sure I'll spend $100 on a nice collared shirt or nice jeans or something, but $250 is just too far for me personally--shirts DO wear out for me after only a year or two. Sure they look good and still feel fine--until you buy a new one and have a fresh snug one to compare it to--then the old one just feels like junky crap that has lost its form over the last year or two, at least for me. Don't get me wrong, I don't buy/can't stand crappy cheap clothes, all my stuff is upper-end, but there's a personal limit where the value just isn't there for the money on short term clothes--I switch stuff out every couple years as styles/tastes change anyway.

Hey bruv, I completely get what you're saying and I no way doubt your usage/taste; its just what works for me- as you say, you may switch looks while I've looked the same for years so yeah cost/value will be as different as taste. I've been a trouser/shirt man for basically ever (wont and haven't worn jeans since a lad, leather soles and 100% natural all the way ever then) and rock the scruffy side of louche so am quite happy to be wearing 5 year linen on my back (also find it hangs better with time and that fresh paper feel is only an iron away).

Personally theres no way I'd justify spending money to make myself look different (re: flitting scenesters) but am always amazed at how different threads change your behaviour (shoes and trousers definitely on the stride/ jacket on the bearing &c.)

Hey, btw anybody after any nods I don't think you could do better to see where Prince Charles and the Duke of Windsor do their shopping (not a comment on the monarchy rather where a dandy without limit chooses to go:D)

This is fantastic - you've captured a mysterious feeling here.

Took my camera out yesterday for the first time in about four months: a bit like getting back in a car when you haven't driven for a while, to find you're thinking about something you used to do automatically...

Great nature shot here - exciting!

this is where boris and the clan are plotting how we can all pay for the olympics with parking tickets

aka the "giant testicle" (the building, not Boris).

I am so jealous. Love some of the places people in the UK shoot at.

Man, some of the people here are jealous of the, uh, "scenery" that you get to shoot.

I know it is rather (ok, very) cliche to post a duck shot ;)

No, it is an honourable tradition here ...

I don't care what anyone says, even "Microsoft". Until an amendment is apply to the licensee agreement, I'm going to use it the way it is stated. I'm not going to install the software in a virtual machine on the licensed device.

My guess is the licensee, either is correct as written, or they will release a new agreement when the actual product ships. If MS intends for thier software not to be installed in a VM, they will clarify in the license agreement.

the way it's worded actually can take two meanings:

    1) the software installed on the host system can't be used to install again as guest system on the virtual machine on the same host system.

    2) installing the software on a virtual machine as a guest system implies installing on a host computer that is running the virtualization software. that makes the host computer the actual "licensed" device. however, because the software is running in a virtual machine on the licensed device, this is contradicted by the eula.

you could argue whether or not vista would be able to detect that it's running on a virtual machine. i'd rather argue about the validity of all of these eula's that we're supposed to abide by but don't.

Hi Avinash...I was there today at Brea and they handed out approximately 12-15 tickets. While I do not know numbers, the AT&T models were in less quantity than the Verizon and Wifi.

Seeing as I did not get the version I wanted, I will also be joining you at Brea around 6:00AM! 32GB Black Wifi here I come!!!!! :D

6 am is a good time. Good luck to you all!

    No.

Simply because htcSensation is 1.2GHz dual core

and... and... iphone5 will have lesser RAM than htcSensation.

Also, Apple is closed and Google is open.

    okthxbai

And what exactly do you plan to run on that extra horsepower? What effect does it have on battery power.

Congratulations on being caught up with the sheep in the new CPU clock speed race.

Makes more sense to me that Apple would work to standardize AirPlay as a built-in feature of all new HDTV's, blu-ray players, and other set top boxes like Apple TV. In addition to AirPlay input to the HDTV, the HDTV would do AirPlay output from a TV connected webcam/microphone (if any). I don't see Apple trying to sell actual HDTVs, but the iPad would make a great SmartTV content controller that would replace the need for an Apple TV module.

The existing Apple TV could just evolve into an iOS app.
