Every iTunes update, I keep expecting to see this. Tags you can pile on, *in any order*.
Example: I have a song by Joe Blow, a song by Suzy Suck, and a song where they collaborated.
If I add an artist tag "Joe Blow, Suzy Suck", it's one tag. It's not Joe's tag, and Suzy's tag, and it's also not the same as "Suzy Suck, Joe Blow" ... though, to the user, it should be. A search for Suck and Blow should turn up any song that has both artists in the Artists tag[s].
Especially important for Genre tags. Many tunes could be classified as several genres, but if I put Joe's tune down as "Blues Rock", it isn't "Blues" and it isn't "Rock".
I would have suggested tags "like iPhoto's keywords", but I don't like iPhoto's implementation of them. I do like drag and drop tags, though. I guess iPhoto-style tagging would be more helpful than the current system.

I'll wager that Apple didn't use Comic Sans :eek: in their reply note.

In addition to my promise to run around naked and post the video to the Internet if iMac gets Conroe, I will do the same if they introduce a phone at WWDC.

Anyone who was expecting more from this update was living in a bit of a dreamland. The MacBook design is the newest of all the form factors from Apple and from the sales figures they have no reason yet to think about changing it. Incremental updates are nice to see, price cuts are even nicer.
As for what we're now going to get at MacWorld. I think iTV, video iPod and BluRay will be the main talking points there, along with a small update across the range to support 802.11n. I don't think Leopard will be ready by January.
I am dissapointed that they did not upgrade the specs for the 1.83 model.
They managed to hold the price for the other models while upping RAM, HD and Superdrive to Double Layer. Why on earth have they not given them all 1Gig RAM throughout the line.
Yes, it drives people to buy the 2.0 model and YES it drives away the others that are not prepared to spend this extra 200$....

Sounds like a good system. A person can buy a dummy pc if they want, a linux box, or a Mac.
What if they don't have any choice but to buy your product? All of the Windows OEMs are instant customers for Vista, whether they like it or not. This is how the system works for Microsoft.

Actually, the whole thing kind of reminds me of the whole internet thing where we had that Push technology. What was that stupid application that Windows users ran?

The better idea would be to have people be able to "open up" their Zunes (or iPods), and people could look around on their Zune (or iPod) and see what people are listening to around them. And if they like it, then grab it and let them play it for X amount of times or days. More of a PULL technology.
Still, just sharing earbuds is more social, but if you had broadcasting on an iPod or Zune, that would make more sense, at least to me....
In my opinion, the iPod/iPhone will almost certainly have Wi-Fi sometime soon, and the song sharing feature will work exactly as you're describing. If I recall, the way the Beatles recorded, it was almost overkill. It should be intersting to see if they remaster it to optimize it for compressed digital. Otherwise, I really love listening to every sound that the recordings have picked up as I listen to the fab four on a 30 LP.

sadly Apple has been very depressing when it comes to offering better graphics chips. Apple even is poor at doing incremental updates.

Ironic that FACEBOOK is one of websites that most OFTEN CRASHED Safari 4.0.3!
I'm not sure who's to blame for that, Apple or Facebook, but since many other websites don't crash Safari 4.0.3, doesn't this seem like the little stubborn child refusing to do his homework properly?
Btw, I've yet to extensively test Safari 4.0.4 on Facebook, but my past experience was that Facebook has always been buggy on Macs, and every new update to the site always seems to cause a Mac-specific problem.
And recently with Safari 4.0.3, it was crashing Safari 3 times a week.
Other websites were crashing Safari 4.0.3 too, mostly those that were Javascript or FLASH intensive, but Facebook was one of the worst offenders.
I'm anxious to see how Safari 4.0.4 does, so far so good as far as crashes on any website (knocks on wood). :)

Well, I rushed home tonight to get me a look at all the news today. What a waste of bloody time.
No iTunes 7 in the UK (see screenshot).
iTMS has games, but STILL no TV shows or movies.
Unfortunately, you can't buy the games separately for the equivalent of 5 bucks each like you can in the US, you have to buy all nine as a bundle for 36 quid!

And although I haven't installed iT7 (although I could download it from the States I suppose -- what would the US version of the software do to my UK iTMS purchased tracks, I wonder?) I ain't gonna because it looks like friggin' VISTA! What's that all about then?!

And another thing -- unless I'm wrong -- they still haven't got crossfade on the iPod. I've been asking for that for at least eighteen months. Bollx.

Meh. iTunes looks different, sure. Given the choice, I'd say I preferred the previous appearance... but it's hardly the end of the world. Gapless playback is quite nice for some of my live recordings, and the Fetch Album Art seems to have worked as well as can be expected, considering some of my tracks aren't tagged as well as they should be.

I ordered a 30GB iPod and the standard white 1,83Ghz Macbook on September 2nd, and it said it was due to ship out on the 13th. I therefore thought that they'd upgrade the iPod (more likely than the MB) before sending it to me, but I just got an e-mail saying it shipped today.
Bit bummed that I didn't get the upgrade (well, I can only presume), but at the same time stoked to get my Macbook and iPod more than a week earlier than I first thought!

Yes, that is a very nerdy/geeky thing to do. "Zune"-ing music wirelessly is only something geeks can come up with, whereas Steve's suggestion of sharing earbuds is so much cooler and, dare I say it, sexually suggestive! ;)

Yes but it does clearly state Core 2 Duo in the product name and the release date of 13th November, they could have just copied the spec of the existing one as they are unsure of the new spec. What is telling is the date, they obviously expect it to happen on the 13th

Yes, flash has issues, but there are several sites that I want to use from the iPhone that require it. It would be good for the iPhone to support it.
Can you name off some of those sites and give their web address. Anyone else have sites they can name? I would like to see how much the lack of Flash on the iPhone cripples a web site. - thanks.

I wouldnt think so (of course thats a big assumption). There has to be some kind of acceptance prior to the download, along with all the EUA jazz. I wish Apple would give the JB community a little slack, as they do the hackintosh folks.

I've changed my mind on this one. I used to be in the "kill Flash, please" group but there have been plenty of times now when I've been on travel with just my iPhone and have been unable to use a site which incorporates Flash (rightly or wrongly) as part of its critical user interface. Being able to turn on Flash support, suffering briefly through a period of high battery drain and slow response, and then turning it off again is a much smaller inconvenience than either carrying around a separate and otherwise un-needed device or simply being dead in the water.
